On Sunday night, America Ferrera was recognized for her work on Ugly Betty during this year's ALMA Awards, winning the Chevy Entertainer of the Year for her performance as Betty Suarez on the popular ABC show. The award also recognizes America's off-screen work encouraging young people to get involved in the political process. To add to America's victory, Ugly Betty nabbed awards for directing and best performance by a Latino-led ensemble cast.

Bebe Winans, Wynonna Judd, and Lucero performed a tribute to Linda Ronstadt, who was honored with the Trailblazer Award. Shakira, Charlie Sheen, and designer Narciso Rodriguez were also among those recognized for their accomplishments in the entertainment industry. The Black Eyed Peas, the Cheetah Girls, Sergio Mendes and Cheech and Chong performed during the ceremony, which was hosted for the third year in a row by Eva Longoria Parker.

The ALMA awards were founded in 1995 by The National Council of La Raza to celebrate achievements by Hispanic artists. Make sure to catch the televised ceremony Sept. 12 on ABC.
