Britney's Longest Deposition Cut Short

While many Americans are enjoying the day off from work today to commemorate Martin Luther King Jr's birthday, Britney Spears was doing the one thing she's been avoiding for months — giving her deposition in the ongoing custody battle with ex-hubby Kevin Federline.

Shortly after 10:30 a.m. PT, the pop singer arrived at the Century City, Calif., office of Mark Vincent Kaplan, who represents K-Fed in their tug-of-war over 2-year-old Sean Preston and 1-year-old Jayden James.

Brit drove herself to the deposition, which is slated to go through the remainder of the day, in her white Mercedes with pal Sam Lutfi in the passenger seat. The singer, perhaps feeling more confident following her decision to split with married photog Adnan Ghalib, made no effort to sneak into the office or avoid being spotted, as she handed over the keys to her car to a parking valet before entering Kaplan's office.

Around 1:15pm PT, Britney exited Kaplan's office. According to an eyewitness, "she looked furious," as she sped away from the parking lot. The singer arrived at her house in the gated community known as The Summit around 30 minutes later.

Sources confirm to OK! that, though the deposition is done for the day, Kaplan didn't even break the ice on a number of topics.


UPDATE:


A source reveals exclusively to OK! that Britney left her house at The Summit tonight at 5:15 PT in her Mercedes and drove around the San Fernando Valley. She didn't get far thanks to L.A.'s gridlock traffic. When Brit realized she wasn't going anywhere, she pulled a U-turn and returned home, followed by at least 30 paparazzi.


Once home, the source says she didn't go inside, but rather turned around again and went speeding off into the Valley for more aimless driving, finally returning home after about 45 minutes.


OK! can also exclusively report that the remaining four hours of today's deposition (Britney bailed after only two hours) will "most likely be split up into several smaller depositions between now and April 9" because "she simply can't sit still," says a source close to the case.


The insider also confirmed to OK! that there will be no more depositions this week.


The last time Britney showed up to give her deposition, she was several hours late and only able to meet with Kaplan for 14 minutes. And it was later that same day when Brit-Brit would find herself in a several hour standoff with the authorities as she refused to hand over infant son Jayden to his father. Ultimately, the pop star ended up being hospitalized for two nights and her visitation privileges with both boys have been suspended.


Why did Britney show up to her depo on time?
She finally got some sense knocked into her.
She was forced to.
She had nothing better to do.

thecherrybomb---thanks for letting me know on the picture, appreciate it. I also kind of wonder if they have to split up the remainder of today's 4 hour deposition into several smaller depositions (if that is in fact true) between now and April 9. If they actually have to do that because she can't sit still then how in the world do they think she will be able to actually handle a 2-year old and a 1-year old???

this picture is from today people -- you can see the video at tmz.com or x17online.com. OK!.. why are you claiming she cut it short when the other websites (including people.com) say she went for the whole time?? i think you're just trying to make news still. anywho

To cutegirl....it's a good thing you have looks going for you, because brains you don't!!!! Have you not read anything that's going on with Spears lately? Oooopppssss....my mistake, you can't read either. Brit's kids would be far better off, living with a pack of elephants than her. Shame on you!!!

Britney "Worst Mother of The Year" will never get her kids back!!! Kevin is the one that stepped up to the plate and is the parent that the two boys needed. Britney just went off running around, being a slut, acting like the pyscho she is. I mean come on she what mother in their right mind that wants to keep custody of their kids would do any of the long list of things that Britney has. Kevin has kept the kids out of the spotlight unlike Britney hasn't talked bad about Britney and has shown up on time for ev everything he needs to. Let's face it Britney hasn't even acted like a human being but a pyscho animal on the loose!!!
