“Whoever said all men are born equal never left his own backyard,” explains Brad Pitt in a new interview with Parade. “I see people everywhere without opportunity. I want to help level the playing field.”

"When I see someone without basic health and education... I feel a connection," the actor continues. "I could be him, if I'd been born on some other dot on the map."

In recent years, this handsome philanthropist has spent a good deal of time helping to rebuild hurricane-devastated New Orleans, and he and his charitable gal-pal Angelina Jolie have donated $1 million to Doctors Without Borders and another million to Global Action for Children.

On the subject of Angelina, Brad doesn't take too kindly to the rumors that he only became interested in doing good deeds when the pair became involved in 2005. “That’s idiotic!” he says. “I do it because I’m a member of the human race.”

One thing that is certain is his four children, Maddox, Pax, Zahara and Shiloh, are his world. “What’s important to me is that I’ve defined my beliefs and lived according to them and not betrayed them,” he mentions. “One of those is my belief in my family. I still have faith in that.”
